Looking at the autumn leaves information in various places in the Kinki region, there are many places where the leaves are falling, but there are places where the best time to see is.  In terms of the season, it is late autumn.  So I looked it up in the haiku saijiki and found that lata autumn is from “Kanro” on October 8th to the day before “Rittou” on November 7th.  At this time of year, it felt like late summer to early autumn, rather than late autumn.  By the way, early winter is from November 7th “Rittou” to December 7th, the day before “Daisetsu”, and mid-winter is from December 7th “Daisetsu” to January 5th, the day before “Kokan”.  It feels like it’s early winter now, so if you compare it with the haiku saijiki, it’s “mid-winter” now.  Kadokawa Shoten has revised “Saijiki” for the first time in 15 years, and I would like to see it.

近畿各地の紅葉情報を見てみると、さすがに落葉中という所が多いですが、見頃という所がちらほらあります。季節感で言えば晩秋といったところです。そこで俳句歳時記で調べてみたら、晩秋は10月８日の「寒露」から11月７日の「立冬」の前の日までとあります。今年のこの時期は晩秋どころか、晩夏から初秋といった感じでした。因みに、初冬は11月７日の「立冬」から12月７日の「大雪」の前日まで、仲冬は12月7日の「大雪」から１月５日の「小寒」の前日までです。今が丁度初冬と言う感じですから、俳句歳時記に照らし合わせたら今は「仲冬」ということになりますね。角川書店が15年ぶりに『歳時記』の改訂をしたそうですが、見てみたいものです。
