“Hinamatsuri”, Doll’s Festival, is celebrated each year on March 3, and a day to pray for young girls’ growth and happiness. Most families with girls display dolls for the Hinamatsuri called Hina-ningyo. Many families find it difficult to decide when to start decorating the dolls.
3月3日は雛祭り。女の子の成長と幸せを願ってお祝いする日です。その日に飾る雛人形をいつから飾り付けたらいいのか、今はその思案時。大安吉日(2/16、22、27)がいいのか、2月19日の雨水の日がいいか。当日とか前の日は縁起が悪いので避けた方がいいらしいです。

姥桜(うばざくら)も同様な意味合いに使われる言葉ですが、元は、葉が出るより先に花が開く桜の通称で、ヒガンザクラ・ウバヒガンなどのことをさします。

つくばい（蹲踞、蹲）とは、茶室に入る前に、手を清めるために置かれた背の低い手水鉢に投石をおいて趣を加えたもで、手水で手を洗うとき「つくばう（しゃがむ）」ことからその名がきました。「そんきよ」とも読み、相撲や剣道で屈んで座る姿勢のことを指します。
