Statice is often used as a flower material for dried flowers. Since it is dry from the time of fresh flowers, it has a texture like dried flowers from the beginning. Since it originally grows in the desert or the sandy shore, it probably didn’t have water. The Japanese name is Hamahanasaji (Beach-flower-spoon). The dry flowers of statice are not the flowers but the calyx that supports the flowers. The flower is a small white part in the middle of the fresh flower, and when it is made into a dried flower, it already wither. Hydrangea is the same.

スターチスはドライフラワーの花材としてよく使われます。生花からカサカサしていて、そのままでもうドライフラワーの質感です。元々砂漠や海岸の砂地に育っていたので、水気がなかったのでしょう。和名では浜花匙といいます。ドライフラワーと言ってもスターチスのドライフラワーは花ではなく花を支える萼です。花は生花の真ん中の白い小さな部分で、ドライフラワーにした時点ではもう枯れ落ちてありません。アジサイも同じですね。
