Morgenroth is the sunrise when a red ray from the eastern sky illuminates the mountain range and the mountains and clouds turn red in the early morning when the dawn is not over, and it is one of the times when the mountain looks most beautiful.  The etymology is German for “Morgen rot”, literally meaning “morgen” for “morning” and “rot” for “red”.  This is a picture taken from the direction of Hut Oyari at the beginning of the new year.  This is an old-taken photo.  A few years ago, I headed from Taisho Pond in Kamikochi to Tokusawaen, but I couldn’t even go to Tokusawaen, and I fully realized the limits of my physical strength.  I just realized that old soldiers never die but then just fade away. The third day of the new year has passed in no time.  TV news is actively reporting that there was an earthquake with a seismic intensity of over 5 in the Ogasawara Islands.  I pray that there will be no major disasters this year.

モルゲンロートとは、夜が明けきらない早朝に、東の空より一筋の赤い光線が山筋を照らし、山脈や雲が赤く染まる朝焼けのことをいい、山がもっとも美しく見えるときの一つです。語源はドイツ語で「Morgenrot」、直訳するとモルゲン「Morgen」は「朝」、ロート「rot」は「赤い」を意味しています。正月明けにヒュッテ大槍方面から撮った写真です。昔々の写真です。2、3年前に上高地の大正池から徳沢園、さらにと気持ちだけは逸りましたが徳沢園までも行けず、体力の限界を思い知らされました。まさに老兵は消え去るのみを実感したわけです。正月三が日もあっという間に過ぎました。TVのニュースが小笠原諸島で震度５強の地震があったと盛んに報じています。どうか今年は大きな災害がないことを祈ります。
