June 20th is “Father’s Day” today.  I am forgetting completely.  I found out by listening to NHK radio that I listen to for a walk in the morning.  Anyway, what a shadowy anniversary this day is!  “Mother’s Day” has two days, and they are “Children’s Day” during Golden week and the second Sunday in May, which are brilliant days.  In comparison, “Father’s Day” is an gloomy day in the middle of the rainy season, and it was reluctantly set up.  Well, many dads will approve of that this can’t be helped.  And tomorrow is the summer solstice.  This day is a more interesting day.  Sheep clouds dyed in the sunrise are spreading all over the sky.  Cirrocumulus, cirrocumulus, cirrocumulus, and cirrocumulus are all similar clouds, and although they are autumn season words in haiku, it makes me feel complicated whether they are celebrating “Father’s Day” or not. I am only watching beautiful sunrise clouds.

今日６月20日は「父の日」だったんですね。すっかり忘れていました。朝散歩に聞くNHKラジオを聞いていて知りました。しかし何と影の薄い記念日なんでしょうね。「母の日」は２日もあって、「こどもの日」と５月の第二日曜日だそうで、ゴールデンウィークを挟んでの華やぐ日。それに比べて「父の日」は梅雨真っ最中の鬱陶しい日で、申し訳なさそうに設けられた日。まあこれも仕方ないないかと多くのお父さん方も是認していることでしょう。そして明日は夏至。この日がよっぽど関心を引く日です。朝焼けに染まった羊雲が空一面に広がっていました。羊雲、鱗雲、鰯雲、鯖雲、どれもよく似た雲で、俳句では秋の季語なんですが、「父の日」を祝ってくれているのか、のしかかっているのか、複雑な気分で見る朝焼け雲です。
