Koyasan starts the day early in the morning. They wake up at 5 o’clock and do a religious service in the morning from 6 o’clock. I am troubled by Higurashi, which begins to cry when the morning begins to drawn. Because just during the religious services the crying is at their peak. I just couldn’t resist the clear cry. I’m sorry, but the crying of Higurashi is clearer than the voice of the Buddhist sutra. When listening to the crying, I seem that the evil thoughts have disappeared and the voice of the master Odaishi is heard. I’ll manage to try to listen to the monk’s voice , but naturally I find myself hearing Higrashi. By the time I realized it, the religious services had already ended.

高野山の朝は早い。五時に起床して、六時から朝のお勤め。朝が白み始める頃から鳴きだしたヒグラシが、お勤め時分には最高潮になるから困ったものです。その清澄な鳴き声につい気を取られてしまいます。申し訳ありませんが、お坊さんの読経の声よりもヒグラシの声の方がよほど心が澄みます。邪念が消えて、大師さまのお声が聞こえてくるように思えるのです。これはいけないとお坊さんの声に耳を傾けようとするのですが、いつの間にかまたヒグラシに聞き入っています。気付いたらもう勤行は終わっていた。南無大師遍照金剛。
