Rain Lily is a plant of the family Amaryllidaceae, which grows flower stems and blooms when the bulbs become moist due to rain after it has been hot and drying for several days. They are Zephyranthes which combine Tamasudare and Sahuran-modoki into one package, and Habranthus. Rain lily, a truly romantic name and a cool appearance as its name suggest is a flower suitable for summer. The flower language is “innocent love,” which is also suitable . When I see this flower, I always remember the old masterpiece “Marcelino Pan y Vino (Marcelino’s Bread and Wine)”. And then I can hear the lovely singing voice of Marcelino.

何日間か高温が続き、乾燥した後に雨が降って球根が潤うと、花茎を伸ばして開花するヒガンバナ科の植物をレインリリーと呼びます。タマスダレやサフランモドキなどを一括りにしたゼフィランサスとハブランサスなどです。レインリリーといかにもロマンチックな名前とその名前の通りの涼しげな姿はまさしく夏にふさわしい花です。花言葉は「汚れなき愛」で、これもまたピッタリです。この花を見るといつも思い出すのは、往年の名作「汚れなき悪戯」です。そして可愛いマルセリーノの歌声が聞こえてきます。
